Bound
I just completed "Bound".
I'm happy that I moved the quartet of images from the center of the background and introduced a more random lace pattern. There are two plates. The background plate was inked as an intaglio with a warm yellow and then a surface roll of gray blue ink was applied. The small intaglio plate was inked in a dark blue gray, placed in position, and run through the press.
I finished the print by adding metal eyelets and black cotton twine for lacing. Yellow ocher thread was hand stitched in the central section.

This is strong. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with the others Melody, this is great! I love your colour choices and the tension between the soft lacy border imagery and the darker, more aggressive binding. The actual rivets and lacing are a perfect touch. Beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your positive comments; they're greatly appreciated! It's wonderful to get some outside feedback when you're working alone in the studio. I just dropped the print off at the Slater Museum for the 67th Connecticut Artists Exhibition. I'll know by mid week if it was accepted into the show.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Powerful. That cutting up and rearranging you did in the last post was a great way to shake it up and get it all to come together.
