The smell of the inks, the energy involved in working the plate, the feel of the paper and of course the magic of the press all play a role in printmakings allure. There are always new challenges to be met, problems to be solved and unlimited possibilities. At the end of a printing session, it is always magical to find out what lies "beneath the blankets".

New Year, new exchange portfolio challenge.
First print of the new year underway for the Remarque 2021 Print Exchange. I couldn't wait to see 2020 end and hoped to leave last year's challenges behind. This image seemed a fitting first edition for 2021.
The subject is based on images of my late fater-in-law's overstuffed garage. The silhoutted figure in the doorway turns away from the jumbled mess, leaving it all behind.
As the sun was setting, I had my edition completed. It's a photopolymer intaglio with chine colle'.
This fabulous Christmas gift was a very welcome addition to the studio and makes cutting plates to size a breeze.
